If i'm wearing lilac eyeshadow with a plum accent shadow...what color should my lips be?

I would say like a mocha color. Something neutral that won%26#039;t draw attention away from your eye color, but not too light for your complexion.

I use this stuff called SexyMotherPucker...they sell it at Target.

Good luck!

If i%26#039;m wearing lilac eyeshadow with a plum accent shadow...what color should my lips be?
neutral or a light pink shade Report It

Reply:A chocolate brown or caramel colored lipstick would look great with your eyeshadow. You can also use a nude color lipstick, but I think it%26#039;s more fun to wear a rich brown color!
Reply:A neutral lip tone... nothing too bright or dark, to detract from the emphasis on your eyes.
Reply:a neutral color
Reply:pearly sheer - no color!
Reply:Wear sheer gloss on the lips. It%26#039;s looks sexy and I%26#039;m wearing that today myself.
Reply:Your best bet is to stick to a neutral shade, I would always make one feature stand out and tone down the rest.
Reply:Pink, dark pink or red is fine.
Reply:a light coral or light pink gloss
Reply:i would go more for a glossy nude color
Reply:I would suggest a clear gloss, or a frosted pink gloss.

When wearing bold shadow colours you should stay away from bold glosses.

Go for the nude lip.

How to start a lilac bush with a clipping?

I%26#039;ve never had it work for me. Try taking a root. Grafting one branch onto another already existing bush also works.

If you pick branches for a vase, smash up the stems (lower 4 inches) real good before you put them in water otherwise they tend to wilt. Pick in early morning.

Why hasn't my lilac bush bushed out more? It hasn't bloomed very much either.?

The bush is very thin and hasn%26#039;t grown much since I planted it in the ground last year.

Why hasn%26#039;t my lilac bush bushed out more? It hasn%26#039;t bloomed very much either.?
Fertilizer. the only way to go... lilacs have a hard time on there own.
Reply:It may sound strange as it doesn%26#039;t seem that hard to do - but the point is, you can be more or less effective depending how you do it.

For instance, do not water in the heat of the day - most will just evaporate before it can reach the roots of the plant.

Rather, try and do in the morning when it is cooler, or in the evening.
Reply:You have to prune it. Lilacs, hydrangea, butterfly bushes, etc., all have to be pruned in order for them to stay healthy and bloom. Depending on the type of plant/tree depends on when you prune. Depending on Why you%26#039;re pruning determines how (to control the size of the plant, to encourage more flowers. etc.)

Attached is an excellent guide.

I just planted my lilac bushes and the leaves are curling and turning brown does anyone know why.?

First, make sure your lilacs are in soil with good drainage.

Q.%26quot;I just looked at a row of young lilacs with leaves that are turning brown and dying. I know there was a lot of standing water near them for some time, but apparently they were not actually standing in water. I dug up some soil and found it’s still very saturated...%26quot; A. %26quot;Lilacs are tough, but they don%26#039;t tolerate standing water very well.%26quot; Too much water in the root zone may manifest these symptoms %26amp; can also led to a borer attack. (1) (Good Question %26amp; answer site on Lilacs)

I%26#039;d be careful %26amp; use sanitary precautions, just in case it is bacterial blight, which is common. Prune diseased twigs below twigs %26amp; leaves, when the bushes are dry (don%26#039;t touch wet leaves). Disinfect shears each time with 10% bleach or alcohol after each cut. (2)

Or... it could be Powdery mildew: %26quot;Leaf curling and twisting may be noted before the fungus is evident. Severe powdery mildew infection will result in yellowed leaves, dried and brown leaves and disfigured shoots and flowers.%26quot; (3)

Discard the damaged leaves %26amp; as a precaution against Powdery Mildew, try a milk/ water solution. %26quot;Milk works in two ways: It has a germicidal effect--it kills the fungal spores-- and it also appears to stimulate plants in such a way that they become more resistant to the disease. In recent university tests, the milk and water spray was found to be more effective than the two most popular synthetic fungicides on the market today.%26quot;

Mix 1 cup of milk with 9 cups of water.

Spray the entire plant twice a week. (4)

Reply:they need nitrogen.
Reply:That%26#039;s transplant shock. Give them a good drink of Root Stimulator (Fertilome makes a good product) or MiracleGro. They%26#039;ll want extra attention until they%26#039;re established (new leaf growth = root growth)

good luck
Reply:In my opinion i would say lack of water,or you have watered them when the sun has been shineing and that has burnt them...

Why isn't my lilac bush blooming? Does there have to be two of them together?

No, two are not required for blooming. It the bush is new to your landscape it may take a season or two for it to adjust and start blooming. Also, make sure the postion is such that adequate sunlight is received.

Why isn%26#039;t my lilac bush blooming? Does there have to be two of them together?
my lilac was in for 3 years before it bloomed now its lovely
Reply:Is it getting enough water?

My lilac got a little choked this year by the mint and iris I put in around it last year so I didn%26#039;t get as many blooms as I might have. It needs more root space. The mint and iris have taken over.
Reply:you don%26#039;t have to have two, but I don%26#039;t know why the one you got isn%26#039;t blooming.
Reply:Prune lilac in the spring just after the blooms have fallen. If you prune any later you trim off the buds for the following year. If it is new it will take several years to become accustomed to the soil.
Reply:lila%26#039;s are a early blooming bush, if it is not blooming give it a little more time, you may have pruned it at the wrong time, it may be to dry or to wet, it may need to be fertilized, there are a number of thing that will prevent a plant from blooming.

no you do not need two of the for them to bloom

Can you start a lilac bush from just a cutting?

You most definately can! I have done such. Take a cutting and root it in water or place directly in the soil and water daily. Trim all leaves off th so energy can be spent developing roots.

Can you start a lilac bush from just a cutting?
You need to dig up a portion with roots you should plant at least 2 side by side for it to grow.
Reply:You may be able to get a cutting to root and then plant it. In wood branches like lilacs, you put a couple of slices into the wood just into the bark. Then let it sit in water and watch for roots growing out. Plant it out in the sun or part shade when well rooted and give it some transplant fertilizer (at the garden centre) to help it get established

My three year old Lilac bush didn%26#039;t bloom this year. Why?
The link below can answer any number of questions you might have about lilacs of all kinds. The reason for non blooming could be one of the answers.

Mine bloomed the first year I planted it and every year since then. EXCEPT this year it was ready to and we had a very late freeze.

Ron Smith, Horticulturist, NDSU Extension Service

http://www.ext.nodak.edu/extnews/hortisc...

When is the best time to trim our lilacs so we don%26#039;t affect their flowering next year?

A: Right after they finish flowering this year!

The lack of flowering could be from overfertilization, improper pruning or too much shade. Flower buds for the next season are formed during the previous summer. In other words, the flower buds will form or not for 2008 sometime this summer, depending on whatever pruning is done or anything else that might prevent bud formation.

PS I%26#039;m a real old granny .
Reply:Hi, it is still too young mine din%26#039;t bloom until it was five years old, don%26#039;t worry it will bloom in the next 2 years, Heres a little secret: After a lilac blooms it produces little shoots which are attached to the root system of the mother lilac this will make your lilac alot more bushier. I hope this helps!
Reply:mine didn%26#039;t bloom for 5 years...be patient...
Reply:Lilacs (Syringa spp.) fail to bloom for a number of reasons. Your plant may not be mature enough to bloom. Many woody plants have to grow for several years before they are mature enough to produce flower buds.

Late spring frosts can kill flower buds. The plant will be fine, but few, if any, flowers will bloom normally. Sometimes only part of the bud is killed, and you still have a few flowers able to open on each bud cluster. Warm weather in March had spring moving along a little earlier than normal, until unusually cold weather in April damaged all that tender growth.

The location where your lilacs are planted could be another factor. Lilacs need full sun to bloom well. Too much shade can reduce flowering significantly, and deep shade will keep lilacs from blooming at all. Eight to ten hours of sun daily is ideal; six hours would suffice.

Well-drained soil is another consideration. Lilacs struggle along in poorly drained soil, or die outright. They expend so much energy trying to stay alive that they might not bloom in that situation.

They %26quot;bloom on old wood,%26quot; which means they form their flower buds during the previous growing season. If you prune lilacs in the fall, you remove those flower buds, and will not get to enjoy any of that heavenly fragrance. Many spring-blooming plants bloom on old wood %26amp; should be pruned when they finish blooming in the spring, before they start to form next year%26#039;s flower buds.

Prune by removing the oldest, thickest stems at ground level. The plant will respond by sending up a flush of growth from the roots. Remove weak spindly shoots, and keep well-spaced, robust shoots. This keeps the interior of the shrub open to better air circulation and sun penetration, which makes for a healthier lilac.

Lilacs do not require a high fertility level. If you fertilize a young plant heavily to encourage it to grow faster, it may put on leafy vegetative growth at the expense of flowers.

Good luck! Hope this is helpful.

When can we trim lilac, so it will come back next year?

You must wait till the flowers bloom and die. You then trim off the dead flowers to get it ready for the next year. You can even prune more to shape it the way you want it to grow.

When can we trim lilac, so it will come back next year?
No, lilac flowers from new wood only, the best time to trim it is right after it flowers. This gives the plant time to regenerate before the winter and makes it fuller so you%26#039;ll get more flowers next year.
Reply:Best to do it when the plant is dormant as with most any tree or plant. Fall or winter would work best

I have trimmed a lilac tree can I stick the trimmings in ground to get new bushes like I do with Forsythia?

I would stick them in a big pot first with rooting hormone and some good potting soil until they get started good then transplant the whole thing wherever you want them. If you live in the north they will do great, lilacs like the cold winters. If you live in the south, they will not do as well but will still grow and flower just takes alot longer. Did you know it takes seven years for one to flower from a transplant? Good luck.

Lilacs also like alot of water and wood ashes really help them alot too just FYI. Report It

Reply:yes you can start them that way but put root tone first and keep watered.
Reply:Maybe, but it will be harder. Maybe try putting some rooting hormone on it that is specific to woody plants - available at some nurseries and garden centers.

I have an older lilac bush that is 5%26#039; high x about 6%26#039; in circumference It needs to be moved to a sunny ....
You should probably wait until it goes dormant before trying to transplant it. If you are in no hurry to move it, you can also root prune it by using a spade to cut the roots where you would dig the root ball . This encourages the root to grow so that you will have more roots attached when you actually move it.

Although by the sounds of things, this is going to be pretty heavy and also need a pretty good hole to go in. It may be more work thatn it is worth to try and transplant it. You could get a new one or try to grow a new one from a cutting.
Reply:Little lilac don%26#039;t cost much, buy one and put it where you want one and see if you like it. Moving the old one will be expensive as it will have to be spaded.

Can I still plant lilac bushes? I live in Boise Id.?
As long as you get a good potted plant into the ground soon, I would say yes.
Reply:As long as the ground is not frozen you can. If you can%26#039;t find them locally there are nurseries on the web that carry them.
Reply:I want to correct a couple of misconceptions in the previous answers.

1. Fall is a great time to plant trees or shrubs. Top growth goes dormant so all the plant%26#039;s energy goes into establishing the root system.

2. Do treat as a new planting, i.e. give it a thorough soaking once a week right up to freeze-up. However, do NOT fertilize. Fertilizing will promote foliage growth. What you want is root growth. If you wish to feed your lilac, wait until spring!
Reply:yes you can but dont forget to add mulch and fertilizer
Reply:This is an educated guess, mind you, but I would say that as long as you have 6 more weeks of frost free nights that it would be absolutely fine. I live in Wisconsin and I just today transplanted several Hydrangea plants that I had set up to root in june. I think our weather pattern is similar, if not colder, than you in Idaho and we still have several weeks without frost, I%26#039;m sure. The plants just need to get established root wise. If they are small, and your winters are very cold then you might cover them with spruce branches or something to insulate them a little bit, but I think Lilac are pretty tough plants...we have 2 that are 12-15 feet tall.
Reply:This is the wrong time of the year to plant bushes. You need to plant them in the spring so their roots have a chance to grow. If you plant them now they could freeze and die.

Why does my standard lilac tree only have a few blooms?

Did you do any trimming at the end of last summer or fall? If so that could be why. Early blooming species of which Lilac is one form their buds throughout last summer. Lilacs should be deadheaded and or trimmed if desired right after blooming. That way all the little buds will form on the branches to come out the next spring.

Once in a while a tree or bush can have a reduced number of blossoms. One of mine didn%26#039;t have many 2 years ago but recovered fine the next year.

Why does my standard lilac tree only have a few blooms?
Cut it down close to the root every few years - it will force new branches and blooms. If you don%26#039;t want to cut the branches that low, the at least cut of all the flowers each season. bring them in the house. this will force new growth on the existing branches but hot help w/ the legginess...

I think an ivory colour would go really well with lilac, not matter what colour your skin is:)

But it depends if your style is adventurous, classic, dramatic or something entirely different! Maybe you should schedule a makeup appt with a department store, or pharmacie...sometimes they%26#039;re free so long as you purchase one or two items!
Reply:why not match the dress? pick a color like lilac or even dark purple eyeshadow on.

as for the color, you should think about complementary colors. like if you don%26#039;t want purple eyeshadown, think about blue.

that is, if you chose a golden color, then it means that you don%26#039;t want too much emphisis on the eyes?
Reply:You thought right. If you wear gold eyeliner of eye shadow then you will pop and look pretty against the dress. And that trend is just starting to boom .

As it says in Teen Vogue magazine, Gold Eye pencil has been used recently in Chanel, Anna Sui, and Nicole Miller Spring and Summer 2008 Shows.

In the newest May issue of Vogue it even has suggestions of products that you can use.

How do you grow Lilac's??

Common Lilac should be planted in full sun. Give it plenty of room because this is a large shrub (8-12%26#039; high, 6-15%26#039; in width). It prefers a neutral, well drained soil. Lilac is a vigorous plant that needs little care. Prune after flowering in mid/late spring . Lilac does benefit from deadheading spent flowers. Once established, prune out 1-2 of the largest/oldest stems each year. This forces new stems and helps prevent lilac borers (borers prefer large diameter, old wood). It does not need fertilizing. Once established, it does not need supplemental watering.

How do you grow Lilac%26#039;s??
Go to any reputable gardening supply store that sells lilac bushes, and simply buy one or two that looks good to you. Simply purchase the plant, take it home and plant it. The new growth that you will observe should be one to sometimes three feet a year. The blooms that you will have this year will be set on last years growth. This process will continue each year. If you decide to trim the plant at sometime in the future, simply to shape it up, you may not get flowers where you trimmed the branch. Just be aware of this.

Why isn't my lilac flowering?

It is alive and healthy, full of leaves, but literally not one flower bud!

Why isn%26#039;t my lilac flowering?
There are several reasons it may not bloom. Here are some of the most common reasons that your blooms didn%26#039;t happen:

The buds were inadvertently pruned off last year. The new buds form shortly after the flowers die back.

The bush is immature. Most varieties need three, and sometimes four years to grow and develop, before they produce their first blooms.

Soil imbalance. This is caused by a pH imbalance, too much or too little of certain chemicals. I recommend a soil test through your local Cooperative Extension Service.

Improper mix of fertilizers applied. Flowering of both plants and vegetables is encouraged with higher Phosphorus. Sometimes, people use high nitrogen, which will help produce green leaves, while hindering blooming.

Insufficient amount of sunlight. Without enough sunlight, the plant often will not bloom. Lilac bushes prefer full fun.

Transplant shock. If you transplanted your Lilac bush since the last blooming period, they sometimes will miss a year, as they need time to recover.

My wedding colors are lilac and ivory do u think that either a light pink goes with these 2 colors or burgandy

Are those the only two choices? I suppose I would go with the pink, just because burgandy is so red, I cannot imagine it with the lilac? How about a nice sky or (even bolder) a peacock blue? Or maybe a medium mauve or rose color would be nice... I like the blue with the lilac, and ivory goes with almost anything.

Congratulations and good luck, talk it over with the people (bridesmailds?) who may be wearing or seeing the colors. Get some material swatches and ask for their opinions.

Is it like little tunnels or lines through the leaves? If so it could be leaf miners, which are unsightly but not too bad. Otherwise I have no idea.

It could be blight, though.

When do youtrim lilac bushes?

Prune them right after they flower. New lilacs only bloom on new stems each year.

When do youtrim lilac bushes?
Lilac bushes are prone to powdery mildew disease, so provide good air circulation by keeping their branches pruned. Prune right after blooming is over. In addition to branch pruning, cut the dead flowers off when they%26#039;re done blooming. This will prevent the seed from forming and thereby promote more profuse flowering the next spring.

What color is lilac?

The flowers are produced in spring, each flower about 1 cm diameter, white, pale pink or more generally purple, with four petals.

To answer your question specifically, %26quot;lilac%26quot; is a lavender color.

The lilac shrubs? They can be white, lavender, pink, dark purple, and reddish-purple.

Why dont my lilac tree flower ive had it 5 years nothing?

Lack of sunlight is a common problem. A minimum of six hours of direct sun is best for Lilac bloom production.

Too much nitrogen can create a problem. Often lilacs are planted in the lawn and fertilizers used to green up lawns are too high in nitrogen.

No bloom after the first year is another common problem. Lilacs purchased as bareroot or ball and burlapped plants need time (up to 3-5 years) to re-establish a complete root system. During this period the shrubs energy is directed to root development, not bloom production. Newly planted shrubs can bloom the 1st. year because the flower buds were formed before the shrub was harvested and placed in the garden center for sale. Containerized plants reflower quicker following transplanting.

Pruning at the wrong time often is another problem. Lilacs should be pruned after flowers have faded.

Finally, Lilacs are plants for colder climates and must have a dormancy period in order for them to flower. In warmer climates you can activate the equivalent dormancy by depriving the lilacs of water thus forcing them into dormancy. Once water is reintroduced a few weeks later new growth will begin and stimulate the flower buds to flower.

You can sometimes force a Lilac to set blooms. Use a square shovel to prune the roots in six locations out at the edge of the drip line. This creates a mild shock to the plant %26amp; can stimulate flower bud development.

Why dont my lilac tree flower ive had it 5 years nothing?
It is still only a seedling utill it is 7 to 10 years old
Reply:Here are some tips about lilacs:

1- They need a good amount of sun, but they can withstand a little shade;

2 - They like a slightly basic soil (alkaline or high pH number), though mine flower pretty well in New England acid soil;

3 - They are really happy with not much fertilizer; A good 10-10-10 right after flowering is enough.

4 - They should not be pruned in the laste summer after next year%26#039;s flower and leaf buds form! Flowers for spring, 2008 have already been formed by now in 2007 flower buds. (Isuspect pruningtoo late in the growing season is probably your problem.)

5 - They are actually pretty winter-hardy

6 - Lilacs actually seem to thrive on neglect. Deadheading old flowers isn%26#039;tactually really necessary, it just makes the plant look neater and more tidy, and will probably result in a more even bloom if you do this regularly over the years.

Check out the link below...it%26#039;s a great one!
Reply:My Dad had one in his garden which didn%26#039;t flower and my Gran (his Mum) advised him to put used tea leaves round the base every time he made a pot of tea. He did this, and the following year and every year after he got loads of beautiful flowers. I don%26#039;t know the technical name is for what the soil was lacking, or why this worked, but thought I%26#039;d suggest it because it certainly worked for Dad.
Reply:The only thing I can think of is that it is not getting enough sun. Lilac are full sun plants and if in the shade or not getting enough sun then they will not bloom. Also, another thing to remember is that if you let your lilac seed then it will not produce many blooms next season so you need to dead head the spent blooms to promote a larger bloom later. However, not dead heading would not cause it to not bloom at all.

Check these things out, adjust as needed and hopefully you will have blooms next year! Good Luck!

Why will my lilac not get flowers? It is 6 yrs old and looks healthy.?
maybe lilac bushes are male and female like Bradford pear trees. maybe you have a male- therefore no flowers.
Reply:Some plants don%26#039;t bloom for the first couple of years. I%26#039;ve also heard that sometimes they need trimmed back.
Reply:6 years is pretty young for a Lilac. You may just need patience.

Also, what USDA zone are you in? Lilacs simply will NOT bloom if they are in too warm a climate. (Usually zone 7 or warmer) They require a certain amount of cold weather to bloom.

Too much shade, pruning too much or at the wrong time, too much fertilizer or poorly drained soil are your other choices
Reply:ok...the rule of thumb is to prune after bloom. so don not prune until it blooms.

add lots of lime around the bush. this will lower the pH, which lilacs love and will help it to bloom.

make certain the middle number on any fertilizer you use is higher than the other numbers. for instance...9-18-9 as opposed to 9-9-9. the first number is for top growth, the second for bloom, and the third for root development.

hope this helps.

What colors make lilac purple for icing?

In white icing--- red and blue

try a few drops or a little paste and mix well

if not right colour add more of blue makes it

purpler and red pinker.

Good luck

What colors make lilac purple for icing?
When you mix red and blue, you get purple; for a lighter shade, you just need white, which the icing itself would probably supply.
Reply:you start with white icing....... then add purple icing a little at a time...... to make purple, you mix red and blue. more red than blue though. If you use too much blue, it turns black......... now, the lilac icing will turn darker the longer it sits so you want to make it, ice the cake, then serve it right away....... It will turn the prettiest shade of dark purple the longer it sits.....
Reply:Probably soft pink and soft blue. - to make a pastel colour like lilac.
Reply:try combining food colorings with color red and blue

Why is my lilac crowned amazon mean to everyone?

we got her from a petstore that kept her in a guinie pig cage with the gunie pigs she makes guinie pig nose but i was wondering if this had anything to do with it

Why is my lilac crowned amazon mean to everyone?
is he mean to you or everyone in general. Because if she is affectionate towards you but attacks everyone else, it may be a protection and pocessive thing. Unless the bird was properly socialized when it was younger, and it doesnt sound like it really has been if its been living with guinea pigs, she will become attached to you but hate everyone else. If she hates you as well it may also be a trust and socializing problem. check out www.birdtricks.com. I bought 3 dvds from them and they explain everything about what seems to be your problem. In saying this, spending more time with her and taming her more will soon end this problem, please look at that site it is exactly what you need, it helped me :)
Reply:Because she was raised wild with the guine pigs and has never bonded to a person before. This is a bird you have to learn to love from a distance knowing she/he is wild and would probly be good for breeding if you know for sure what sex the bird is in order to get the bird a mate to raise babies, otherwise love the bird from a distance and talk sweet to it, it can%26#039;t help how it was raised and keeping that in mind will help you love it no matter how mean it is because the bird simply doen%26#039;t know any better and never will. If you want a hand tamed bird don%26#039;t buy one from a petshop because their birds come from either bird mills from deplorable condition or from other people like yourself who probly bought the bird not knowing anything about it and getting bitten a time or 2 then not liking the bird anymore ending up giving it up to a pet shop where unknowingly people like yourself buy the bird at a high price figuring out later what you are just now figuring out about the bird. You never know what the bird has been through or how many other families this bird has been with before you got the bird, the poor thing. Knowing your bird appears mean and wild you will need to warn everyone coming into the house not to touch at the bird or they will get bitten, and really loving the bird from a distance isn%26#039;t so bad, once your bird sees with it%26#039;s own eye you respect it in that sense then it will be happier someone finally understands it, and then you will see this because the bird will then begin playing with it%26#039;s toys, whistling tunes and eating more nomally. Because right now it doen%26#039;t know you or anyone else in the house and only knows it is affraid of the people who do not understand it, always keeping it%26#039;s defences up and thinking it needs to be noisey and mean to protect itself, because it doesn%26#039;t know any better.

Plus don%26#039;t make it being tamed so important to you, that you get your feelings hurt when the bird doesn%26#039;t bond or act the way you want it to.The bird is his own person with his own personality and mind made up as to how it wants to act and you have to give it permission to be who it wants to be and love it anyway, because over time, it may not tame up, but it will love you for respecting IT%26#039;S space.
Reply:Without any other information to go off of I would assume she is scared. How long have you had her? Birds take time to learn new places and situations.

It doesn%26#039;t seem like the pet store took very good care of her, she may be getting over that trauma as well.

Be patient, let her learn you and try to find things she likes. Music, treats, etc. If you put the time in and don%26#039;t push she%26#039;ll come around.

Good luck!
